Multimedia analyst turned legislator Roy Suryo has declared that a man photographed by Kompas daily photographer while watching an international tennis match last week was definitely Gayus Halomoan Tambunan, a graft suspect.
Roy, now a lawmaker from the Democratic Party, said via a text message to kompas.com news portal on Sunday that he had analyzed the photo using the latest technology, called slice comparison.
Roy further claimed that this method was scientific and accurate in assessing the graphic basis of a photograph.
However, the police have remained undecided about whether the man in the photograph was in fact Gayus. Ruby Alamsyah, a noted forensic expert who acknowledged that the similarity between Gayus in real life and the man in the photograph was more than 90 percent, refused to declare outright that the man in the photograph was Gayus.
“Determining the accuracy is the police’s duty and I surely don’t want to interfere,” he stated.
