Saudi Arabia has accepted a new ambassador from Georgia -- the first its first female ambassador to the country.

Yekaterina Mayering Mikadze presented her credentials to King Abdullah in Riyadh, Gulf News reported. She already represents her country in Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.

Mikadze previously led Georgia's diplomatic missions in Jordan, Iraq and Lebanon.

The few women diplomats accredited to Saudi Arabia include Susan Ziadeh, who became deputy chief of the U.S. mission in September 2009, and Ulla Maija Nevalainen, deputy chief of the Finnish mission since November 2009.

Mikadze said the region was a top priority for her country in cooperation on real estate, agriculture, tourism and finance.
