MAN HELD AFTER TWO-MONTH-OLD BOY STABBED

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a baby boy was stabbed several times in Birmingham.

The two-month-old was found at a house in Alfred Road, in the Handsworth area of the city at around 10.45pm on Friday.

He is in hospital where his condition is described as life-threatening, a spokesman for West Midlands Police said.

Officers arrested a 37-year-old man at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder and he is in custody helping with police inquiries.

A force spokesman said: "Police are not looking for anybody else in connection with this incident.

"Police have a team of detectives investigating and forensic scene investigators remain at the address gathering evidence this morning.

"A family liaison officer has also been appointed to work with the family during this difficult period."
