Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has asked the people of his country to help him name his new puppy. The former President of Russia has asked the people to post the names on his official website. He has asked for a masculine name for the Bulgarian Shepherd puppy. Though the original name for the puppy was Yorgo, Vladimir Putin has said that he is open to suggestions. Several names have already cropped up on the website but some bloggers have also criticized the Prime Minister for asking such questions to the people instead of the more important ones.

The puppy was a gift from the Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov after the signing of series of accords that would boost the South Stream gas pipeline. A number of names have already been posted. Some of the names are really funny. Among some of the names that have cropped up so far, one is Yukos, which is in reference to the oil giant that went bankrupt after a tax case against the state. The move was widely believed to be orchestrated by Vladimir Putin himself.
Among some of the other names that have come on Vladimir Putin’s website are ‘Dogka’, ‘Medvedev’ and even ‘Georgia’. The puppy will reportedly have Putin’s surname. Vladimir Putin already owns a Labrador named Connie which is 11 years old now. Vladimir Putin was also gifted a Siberian tiger in 2008 as birthday present. The news of Vladimir Putin asking the citizen to find a name for his puppy has received a mixed response from some the people on the street.
