“Fluffy”, the highly famous 24-foot python at the Ohio Zoo has died at the age of 18 years.

The animal died on Tuesday and a statement was released by the zoo about the news of the death.

The reticulated python had been in the zoo for the past three years was entered into the Guinness World Record as the biggest captive snake in the world.

Reticulated pythons are known for their huge size and attractive body patterns. The size is only rivaled by the anaconda. The reticulated pythons average the length of 10 to 20 feet. Anacondas are known to grow at an average height of 17 foot but they compensate the relatively shorter length with their size. The anacondas grow averagely bigger than the reticulated python.

The longest reticulated python that has been recorded in history was captured and measured in Indonesia in 1912. The snake reached a staggering 32 feet and since then no reticulated python has reached that length.

The animal was loved in the zoo primarily because of its gentle nature and a special habitat was made for it.

The animal was killed by ovarian tumor according to the necropsy that was carried out on the body.
