The Utan Kayu Community, a complex of offices where a small bomb exploded Tuesday afternoon, have condemned the incident.

“We strongly condemn this act. But we want to press that this act will not frighten us,” said Santoso, the director of KBR68H radio station, which has its office in the Utan Kayu Community compound and one of whose employees was injured in the explosion.

Santoso said the bomb would not deter the community from fighting for its right to freedom of expression.

“This act will not stop us from speaking out for the freedom of expression,” he said, as quoted on the radio's website, www.kbr68h.com.

The bomb, hidden in a hollowed-out book, exploded at about 4 p.m. at the Tempo Cafeteria in the Utan Kayu community compound as a police officer was attempting to defuse the device.

The police officer sustained serious injuries.
