RICH IOTT'S NAZI UNIFORM : THE RE-ENACTMENT FUROR

Rich Iott, the Republican candidate from Ohio, has been under stringent criticism for his re enactment of the World War II in a Nazi uniform.

Despite having re enacted the war scenes many times before, the sort of criticism meted out to him for this one is being counter questioned by him, as to what is wrong with wearing a uniform? He has been giving statements in his interviews that he has been re enacting war scenes and he has even enacted American soldiers from World War I and II and feels that there is certainly nothing but his interest in history that is making him a part of the re enactment group.

Iott has however said that he had joined the re enactment group with his then teenaged son, four years back, and that was only because they both loved history.

According to reports, Iott has told the Associated Press that he took part in the re enactments just to educate and he does not agree with the Nazis’ views. Evidently, the Atlanta Magazine had reported that Iott had participated in re enactment wearing a Waffen –SS uniform.

Republican Eric Cantor of Virginia was very clear when he said that he repudiates Iott’s actions in the Nazi attire. However, reportedly, his observations were made after many leaders from various parties put up a stand that what Iott had done was simply not acceptable.

All these reports don’t seem to flutter Rich Iott, as he maintains that he has been re enacting these historical significant scenes since the last 35 years, and did it even in school. He said that it was to show the atrocities of the people that were committed during those times, and so it helped in not making the same mistakes again. He said that those who do not know history are destined to repeat it!

Iott is to face Democratic incumbent Republican Marcy Kaptur in North West Ohio in November elections.
