An allegedly drunk Pennsylvania man brought two blood-soaked kittens home and told his roommate he intended to eat them, authorities said.
Police say Francis McGinley, 44, told his roommate he had run over the 4-week-old kittens with his truck "so I could eat them for dinner," the Philadelphia Daily News reported Tuesday.
The roommate called police.
Both kittens, believed to be siblings, were taken to a vet, where staff named them Karma and Nirvana.
Both are doing well, Delaware County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals spokeswoman Justina Cagliano said, and will be placed in foster care and then put up for adoption in about four weeks.
It's doubtful McGinley ran over them with his truck because it's unlikely they would have survived, Cagliano said.
Animal-control officer Dave Schlott, who took the kittens to the vet, said he was told that someone had squeezed them.
McGinley was charged with cruelty to animals and public drunkenness, the Daily News reported.
