A French man is to take GlaxoSmithKline, the Parkinson's drug Requip manufacturer, to court.
He alleged the drug turned him into a "compulsive gay sex addict," according to media reports Tuesday.
Didier Jambart, the 51-year-old married father of two, took Requip from 2003 to 2005.
He claims that the side effects of the drugs made him a "compulsive gay sex addict and began exposing himself on the Internet and cross-dressing."
His lawyer said that he was raped while engaging in "risky" behaviors.
His lawyer also said his client attempted suicide three times after he lost his family’s savings to Internet gambling and stole money for his habit.
Jambart seeks 610,000 U.S. dollars from GlaxoSmithKline for selling him what he calls a "defective" drug.
Requip's warning label now says some of its users "developed gambling problems or other intense urges or behaviors that were compulsive or unusual for them, such as increased sexual urges or behaviors."
The warning, however, was not added until 2006, after Jambart had stopped using the drug.
