According to a report from the LA Times, three people have been shot at a high school today near Los Angeles, California, and the gunman is till on the loose, according to police reports. The suspect was believed to have fled the scene on foot and police officers were on the look out in helicopters, as well as on foot and in patrol cars, but an updated story reveals that the gunman is a sixteen year old student who is currently still holding hostages in a classroom.
Television footage shows police cars as well as ambulances and firetrucks lined up outside of the school, and at least three shooting victims being carried out the the waiting ambulances. Lt Steve Prendergast states that the incident is under investigation, and it is, as of yet, unclear what exactly sparked the violent episode. The school has been placed on lock down, and the condition of the victims is yet unknown.
It is believed that one of the victims is a male student, and another is a female. There is no word on the third victim as of now. According to KTLA, the victims were all taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance. Latest updates suggest that the police are in contact with the shooter, and are hoping to end the situation without more violence.
