German authorities have revealed that “serious attacks” have been planned by terrorists and as such, the country has increased its security levels in its airports and railway stations. The country says it has “concrete indications” that the attacks are being planned for the end of this month.

The country’s Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere revealed that the intelligence was gathered from a country that he failed to name in the announcement. During the announcement, Maiziere said the heightened security in the country will remain in force in the country until the country has fully assured itself that the threat is off.

He revealed that there are “sustained efforts” by terrorists to carry out deadly attacks. The announcement follows recent failed attempts by militants to mail bombs to all over the world from Yemen. The plot failed but Maiziere said that the failed plot revealed “the adaptability and the persistence of terrorists in pursuing their aims”.

However he said the country will not allow the terrorist threat to affect its way of life. The country is currently involved in the global fight against terrorism. It has some 5,000 soldiers in Afghanistan fighting the Taliban and Al Qaeda.
