Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that the much talked about Facebook messaging and email service is going to be launched soon. Codenamed as Project Titan the new service will offer the advantages of instant messaging and email in one intuitive interface. The service is going to become the future of traditional email service according to some. However, the young CEO of Facebook said the intention of launching this service is not to wipe out email services like Yahoo and Gmail. The 500 million users of Facebook will get their Facebook email ids shortly said the CEO in his speech. The service can also be accessed from a lot of smart phones.
The new service will gradually be made available to its users all over the world and it will be on an invitation system. The members will have the option to customize the privacy controls. They will also be able to block unwanted messages. The Facebook developers will make sure that spammers cannot send unsolicited emails in bulk to its users. The Facebook email users will be able to send mails to the yahoo and Gmail account users. The users can also attach video and photos with their mails. Facebook has said that it will not place a capping limit but will monitor for abuse.
Marc Zuckerberg said while announcing the upcoming service “We don’t expect anyone to totally switch from Yahoo or Gmail to Facebook.” Even before the service is launched the excitement of the Facebook fans has reached a crescendo. They simply cannot wait to get their hands on the service.
