JAPANESE HOSPITALS TEST ROBOTIC NURSE ACTROID-F

Some Japanese hospitals are testing a robotic nurse called Actroid-F.

Actroid-F, which is the handiwork of Kokoro, looks so real that the Guinness World Record has tagged it as the “first true android”.

The robotic nurse is meant to provide patients “a heightened sense of security” as they spend some time on their hospital beds. The robot is pleasant looking and they only sit beside the patient as the patient undergoes various tests in the hospital.

The maker of the robot, Kokoro has done a great job on the robot and with the exception of its plastic looking ’skin’; the machine proves that it is just a matter of time that the androids are here with us.

It is hoped the job of nurses are not taken over by these robots. As it is developed further, let’s hope this can only consolidate the work of the human nurses and not come to add to the high unemployment rate the world is seeing.

Other than that factor, the Actroid-F is welcomed into our planet and let’s hope it develops to do more than it has been designed to do and give more patients the needed support and companionship they need on their hospital bed.
