Taufik Hidayat, the head of the Medan Niaga CIMB bank robber, was shot dead today by Indonesian mobile brigade police in a fierce firefight at a sweepings location in Dolok Masihol, Serdang Bedagai, North Sumatra.
Taufik Hidayat was also allegedly involved in the brutal attack on Hamparan Perak Police headquarters, Deli Serdang, killing three policemen.
In the structure of terrorist Aceh, North Sumatra and Lampung region, led by Abu Tholut, Taufik Hidayat is a confidant of Abu Tholut who is authorized to lead terrorists in North Sumatra.
Besides Taufik Hidayat, who is the terrorist leader of Medan, there are also three colleagues were killed, they are Fauzi S, Zulkarnain and a third person with no identity.
There were two other robbers who were arrested alive, one of them is Robin Simanjuntak, a resident of Tanjung Morawa, Deli Serdang.
The robbers were also using weapons owned by First Brigadier Emmanuel in the crossfire that occurred this afternoon.
The weapons seized by police is one of Bripka M 16 Emmanuel, an FN self made, one AK 56, 4 magazen and 700 rounds of ammunition.
In a gunbattle that lasted for about 30 minutes, one member of the Mobile Brigade named Brigadier Sugeng gunshot wounded in his right shoulder.
