The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) on Friday said it is escorting a passenger aircraft over the United States “out of an abundance of caution,” as security alerts across the United States, England and Dubai continue to develop.
The aircraft involved is United Arab Emirates flight 201, a Boeing 777-300ER, which departed Dubai International Airport earlier on Friday. It is being escorted by two fighter jets to JFK Airport in New York. Earlier, as it passed over Canada, it was escorted by two Canadian fighter jets.
U.S. media reports said the plane was possibly carrying a package from Yemen, which is the source of other terror alerts on Friday.
