A Chinese flour wholesaler arrived in his van at a car shop in Xianyang city of Shaanxi province on Monday, hoping to buy a new car.

He opened the boot and carried down seven sacks of coins - with various face values - to pass it to the dealer.

'I want to buy a car. I have 60,000 yuan (S$11,353) cash,' he said, adding that the coins weighed some 300kg.

The car dealer had trouble finding a bank to receive the unusual payment, as counting it was not easy, but finally found one that agreed to receive 15,000 yuan of the coins.

Meanwhile, the flour wholesaler is waiting for other banks to help him deposit the money into the dealer's account as he will not be able to buy the car until all his coins have been received and counted by the banks.
