Gunmen opened fire with automatic weapons at a busy intersection in the Englewood area of Chicago this morning. The resulting melee led to a fleeing car crashing into a city bus and 11 injuries, two serious, according to the Chicago Tribune.

It didn't appear that anyone was hit by gunfire, the newspaper reported. Most people were injured by flying glass and the crash. Two people were reported to be in either serious or critical condition at local hospitals, the newspaper said.

"These young guys stepped out with AK-47s or Uzis or something and shot up the whole block," Al Perkins, head cook at Ryan Anthony's restaurant, told the Tribune.

"They got out of this red truck and starting walking and shooting," Perkins said. "I think they were aiming at a black car down the block. ... Once they got done, they ran back to the truck."

No arrests were immediately reported.
