MySpace and Google on Thursday announced a multi-year agreement to renew and expand the two companies' search and advertising cooperation.

According to a joint press release, under the new deal, Google will continue to power MySpace search and search advertising and will also provide additional display advertising services to enhance the entertainment content experience on MySpace.

Terms of the new deal were not disclosed.

MySpace was acquired by News Corp in 2005 for 580 million U.S. dollars. In 2006, Google signed a 900-million-dollar deal to sell advertisements related to user searches on MySpace and some other small News Corp websites for three years.

The deal was temporarily extended after it expired in June, and the two companies continued talks. Facing challenges from rivals like Facebook, News Corp was not expected to get a generous deal like before.

"We're thrilled about renewing our partnership with Google. Their best-in class technology will continue to provide our consumers with a robust search experience," said Nada Stirratt, Chief Revenue Officer of MySpace.
