A fun-filled dance carnival was presented by the Hong Kong government on Saturday, in which thousands of people enjoyed fantastic dance shows while given opportunities to join in the dance performances.
"Dance Day", held by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) of the city government at the Tsuen Wan Town Hall, started with a marching parade involving more than 300 people, including secondary students and young dancers.
The parade was followed by an opening show with 150 dancers, who brought a live performance around the four corners of the plaza.
Starting from noon, the event showcased various types of dance from modern to folk and jazz, tap dancing, Chinese dance, even environmental and multi-media dance. The viewers were also welcomed to join in the dance performances, including the "U Can Dance!" free dancing zone.
Another of the many attractions was a multi-media show staged at the Exhibition Gallery, where seven renowned local dancers took turns performing crossover dance performances backed by multi- media projection and installations.
"Dance Day" was first held in February 2009 by the LCSD.
