Arsenal have drawn Barcelona in the knockout stages of the Champions League while their north London rivals Tottenham face a tough test against five-time champions AC Milan.

Roma v Shakhtar Donetsk
AC Milan v Tottenham Hotspur
Valencia v Schalke
Inter Milan v Bayern Munich
Lyon v Real Madrid
Arsenal v Barcelona
Marseille v Manchester United
Copenhagen v Chelsea
Round of 16: 1st legs: Feb 15-16 and Feb 22-23. 2nd legs: March 8-9 and March 15-16

The likelihood of Arsenal drawing Pep Guardiola's side was much discussed in the lead up to today's draw and despite their bullish stance they would "not fear" the Spanish giants, the prospect remains a daunting experience for Arsene Wenger's side.

Arsenal have failed to beat Barcelona in their five previous contests in Europe's elite competion.

Tottenham will have to overcome Serie A leaders AC Milan if they are to progress through to the quarter-finals of the tournament at the first time of asking.

Spurs have already made one trip to the San Siro this season where they came from 4-0 down to suffer a dramatic 4-3 defeat to Inter Milan in the group stages.

Meanwhile, Manchester United's reward for topping their group has seen them handed a tie with Marseille.

The French side beat Chelsea in the final round of group matches and are enjoying a revival after their peak years of the early 1990s.

Carlo Ancelotti's side were the last side out of the pot and face what should be a relatively straight forward two-leg tie against 150/1 outsiders Copenhagen.

Copenhagen did well to qualify for the last 16 for the first time in their history but were the team most group winners were hoping to draw today.

In other ties, Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid side will take on Lyon while Champions League holders Inter Milan, who have struggled under Rafael Benitez this season, will take on Bayern Munich in a repeat of last year's final.

Inter, then led by Mourinho, beat the German champions 2-0 in Madrid to win their first European title for 45 years.
