More than 70 people including children have been killed in bomb and grenade attacks on two mosques in northwest Pakistan, according to reports.

The suicide bombing at the Sunni mosque in the town of Darra Adam Khel, which is frequented by anti-Taliban tribal elders, left 66 people dead, officials said.

The attack happened soon after Friday prayers in the town, which lies near the border with Afghanistan.

At least 80 others were wounded in the explosion at the Waali Mosque, reports said.

Later, three grenade blasts killed five people at another mosque in the Badhber area, on the outskirts of Peshawar. Another 24 were wounded, police said.

Video from the scene in Darra Adam Khel showed screaming women, elderly men in blood-stained clothes and a child being wheeled into the emergency ward of a nearby hospital.

The bomber may have been targeting a local politician who was known for speaking out against the Taliban, local reports said.

It was the biggest attack in Pakistan since a September suicide bomb attack on a procession of Shi'ite Muslims in the southwestern city of Quetta, which killed 54 people.

The blast was the latest in a series of attacks to hit mosques and Sufi shrines in Pakistan.
