A large crater has appeared beneath a residential road in Schmalkalden, Germany, a town located about seventy-five miles north east of Frankfurt. The eighty foot deep crater opened up over night, swallowing a car and the garage door of a house nearby.
No one is sure just yet exactly what caused the huge hole to appear. No one was reported to be injured in the incident, but six houses in the area had to be evacuated by emergency services to avoid any injuries. The authorities plan to pour gravel into the hole, filling it.
