Yesterday, a new eruption of Mount Merapi, located in central Java island, killing at least 78 people, bringing to 138 the number killed by the volcano over the past ten days.

Among the companies that have canceled flights to the Indonesian capital are Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, Lufthansa, Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia.

Domestic flights were not affected, except for those bound for Yogyakarta, the nearest town to the volcano and where the airport was closed yesterday.
