It has emerged that a plane that crashed in the Democratic Republic of Congo and resulted in the death of some 20 people was a result of panic in the cabin caused by an escaped crocodile.
Investigators might have known the reason from the sole survivor of the crash.
According to the facts available, the reptile was smuggled into the plane in a sports bag. the animal however escaped from the bag during the internal flight and caused panic in the plane resulting in the plunging of the plane.
The crash occurred on August 25 during a flight from the country’s capital Kinshasa to the Bandundu regional airport.
The death toll of the crash would have been much higher than it was, if the inhabitants in the house it crashed in were in the house at the time.
Officials say when the plane began its landing procedure to the Bandundu airport, the reptile escaped from the huge sports bag that it was concealed in and caused panic in the plane. This caused the plane to crash even when there was no mechanical fault on the plane.
