An Oklahoma man freed his dog from the pound but found himself in jail as well. The 73-year-old Edwin Fry used lawn tractor and bolt cutters on his rescue mission.

The mission however failed and the man was thrown into jail while his dog, Buddy Tough was euthanized.

Fry maintained that he couldn’t bear to see his dog spend so much time in the pound but he was not ready to go the legal way of paying a $100 fine for the release of the dog. He wanted to do the rescue in his own way and unfortunately his way was the illegal way.

Fry however maintain that he warned the authorities to stay away from his dog and they refused to listen. He said the police told him that they were going to kill the dog and that was the reason why he boarded the lawn tracker and drove to the town’s kennel. He managed to cut through the cage and freed Buddy and started for his house when he was arrested.

However the authorities in Hydro maintain that they need to protect the citizens at the community from stray canines especially after a high school student was killed by two pit bull terriers three weeks ago.

Fry spent sometime in jail before he was bailed by a local resident. After his rescue, Fry said he believed Buddy Tough was flying with the angels in Heaven and he hoped to reunite with it later.
