Bob Frost, the Tory councillor who made racist remarks on his Facebook page about the rioters in London recently has been suspended. The 49-year-old who is also a grammar teacher claimed that he didn’t mean to write what appeared on his Facebook wall.

In describing the London rioters recently, Frost used the words “jungle bunnies.” He was recently elected on the ticket of the Conservatives to the Dover District Council. When issue was raised with his post on Facebook, Frost defended himself by saying that he planned to write “urban jungle” instead of what he wrote.

When he was contacted by a fellow member of the Conservative Party, Frost removed the post and explained why he did that.

He played innocence in the use of the phrase that he used writing that, “I have just had a phone call that accused me of racism for my above posting. Looking at the dictionary it would appear that the term jungle bunnies is perjorative [sic] and is a racist slur relating to African-Americans.”

The Conservatives Party has suspended Frost for his comments. He has subsequently removed the apology from his Facebook page as well.

The deputy leader of Dover District Council Conservative Group, Councillor Sue Chandler, announced on Friday that, “There is no place in our society for this kind of language. We have therefore suspended Councillor Frost from the Conservative Group pending investigation.”
