Lakhimpur Kheri (Uttar Pradesh), July 13 (IANS) A woman was arrested here Wednesday for allegedly killing her neighbour’s child after a godman told her the act would help her bear a son, police said.
Suman Devi, native of Adleeshpur village, Tuesday lifted the 20-day-old baby of her neighbour Shanti Nishad, police inspector Diwakar Tripathi said.
“After the body was recovered from Suman’s home, we became suspicious about her. During interrogation she broke down and confessed to her crime,” he told reporters here, 140 km from Lucknow.
It’s a case of human sacrifice, he added.
Police are trying to nab the godman.
