A Philippine mayor has repeatedly punched a court officer for refusing her request to delay the demolition of squatters' houses until she arrived to prevent violence.
Davao city Mayor Sara Duterte was shown on television Friday punching court sheriff Abe Andres in the face.
She said delaying the demolition for two hours while she assisted victims of a flash flood would have prevented a clash between squatters and the police and demolition crews. One officer was injured in the clash.
Andres was treated for bruises. He said he hasn't decided what action to take against the mayor.
Last month, the governor of a northern province allegedly hit a radio announcer with a microphone, apparently over the station's coverage of illegal gambling and logging.
