Planning a wedding on a budget? Lovebirds can now get married in the UK for 1 pound (S$2), or US$1 (S$1.22) in the US - thanks to the AutoWed machine.

The 2.4m pink machine prints out a wedding receipt and produces two plastic rings for the newlyweds to wear.

Created by Concept Shed, the wedding ceremony is performed by a robotic voice. Upon inserting the right amount of money into the machine, the voice will ask the couple whether the union is straight, gay, lesbian or best friends forever.

Once the names of the groom and bride are keyed in, the machine will ask the pair individually if they wish to marry each other, adding: 'Press 1 for I do. Press 2 to escape.'

The ceremony ends by AutoWed telling the newlyweds that they can kiss.

The voice concludes: 'If you weren't happy with our service, please retain the receipt for a 10 per cent discount with AutoDivorce.'
