BABIES SHOULD EXERCISE DAILY TO PREVENT ADULTHOOD OBESITY

The British government says no one, even babies, should be spared from exercising daily. The warning was contained in the first-ever advice on exercise for the country’s young generation. Britain has one of the highest obesity rates in the world and the government wants to reverse the trend.

Parents are urged to be involved in the exercise of their children under the age of 5. The health department of Britain urges parents to reduce the level of inactivity in their children. Parents were advised to achieve this by reducing the time that they strapped their children up and the time that their children spent in front of the television.

The officials advice that children including babies should be made to be active in at least three hours in the day. The officials say infants who cannot walk can be engaged in other activities like swimming sessions with the parents and children playing on their stomachs.

The head of policy and advocacy at the British Heart Foundation, Maura Gillespie, issued a statement. The statement said that, “It’s vital that parents introduce children to fun and physically active pastimes to help prevent them becoming obese children, who are likely to become obese adults at risk of heart disease, diabetes and some cancers.”
