A part-time cleaner was jailed for five years and ordered to be given eight strokes of the cane for molesting a young boy.
Desiyantoh Zainal, 27, was naked when he grabbed the 10-year-old and molested him at an HDB staircase landing in Bukit Batok on March 15.
The court heard that the victim and his cousin were playing when they saw Desiyantoh coming down from the staircase. He was naked from the waist down and covered his mouth with his T-shirt.
The victim claimed that Desiyantoh had asked for their names but they did not reply and wanted to run back to their unit. Desiyantoh managed to grab hold of the victim's left arm and pulled the boy towards him and committed the offence.
He has similar convictions in 2004 and 2007.
He could have been jailed for up to 10 years for the aggravated molestation. For appearing in the nude, he could have been fined up to $2,000 or jailed for up to three months or to both.
