A lecturer who was arrested after a teenage girl died of a drug overdose at a party in his home has been seriously injured after jumping off a bridge.
Brian Dodgeon broke both legs after leaping from a flyover on the North Circular road in Walthamstow, London on Tuesday.
A police spokesman said: "A 60-year-old man suffering from serious leg injuries was taken to hospital where he is in a serious but stable condition."
The lecturer is currently on police bail on suspicion of child abandonment and possessing drugs following the death of Isobel Reilly, 15.
The schoolgirl had taken a mixture of drugs, including ecstasy, during a party at Dodgeon's west London home on April 23.
The lecturer had gone out for the evening with his partner Angela Hadjipateras.
Isobel Reilly was with Brian Dodgeon's 14-year-old daughter, Beatrice Hadjipateras, and a group of friends.
Police are investigating whether the teenagers found the drugs in Dodgeon's home.
The lecturer was suspended on full pay from his research and lecturing job at the University of London last week.
