National Police deputy chief Comr. Gen. Nana Soekarna has said that around 7,000 Indonesian police and soldiers will be deployed to secure the ASEAN summit at the Jakarta Convention Center on May 7-8, 2011.

"We hope that with the large amount of personnel that we will deploy, the summit security will run smoothly," he said after a discussion on terrorism at Paramadina University on Wednesday.

He said all types of threat should be anticipated as any incident would threaten Indonesia's international reputation.

He said he was currently preparing the personnel for the event.
