PRINCE WILLIAM TO ARRIVE AT WEDDING VENUE ON HORSEBACK?

Prince William, who is set to marry Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey, is considering arriving at the venue on horseback accompanied by members of the Household Cavalry’s Mounted Regiment.

Middleton has chosen to forsake the traditional horse-drawn carriage for her journey to Westminster Abbey, but there could still be a romantic arrival.

“William is going to arrive on a white horse with Guards officers past and present,” the Telegraph quoted one of his friends as saying.

“It is going to be quite an entrance,” the friend added.

Officials at St James’s Palace are keen to play down the suggestion. They insist that the future king intends to arrive by car. However, William did talk this week about his satisfaction at having “outfoxed” the media over his stag weekend.

It has been announced that the members of the Mounted Regiment will escort the couple as they are driven from the abbey to Buckingham Palace in an open-topped state Landau that carried William’s parents past cheering crowds after their wedding in 1981. Members of the Household Cavalry will also provide a fanfare team of trumpeters for the ceremony.

The bride will arrive in the same Rolls-Royce that the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall were using when they were attacked by student protesters last year. The vehicle, which has not been used since rioters smashed one of its windows and threw paint on it, is being repaired.
