In yet another case of honor killing, a teenage girl has allegedly been murdered by her family members for eloping with her lover in Ghaziabad, 30 kms from the national capital, said police Tuesday.
The victim, 18-year-old Meena, was shot dead by her own brothers for eloping with her lover in the Kaushambi area of Ghaziabad. Her body has been sent for autopsy.
The accused are absconding and efforts are on to track them down.
Honor killings are common in northern India, with at least 1, 000 people killed each year for love affairs without approval of their families.
