A man has been charged over the death of a teenage boy south of Perth.

It is believed Rowan Davis, who is the cousin of Collingwood football player Leon Davis, was among a group of people who were throwing rocks at signs in Halls Head last night.

One of the rocks hit a passing car, after which the female driver parked at a nearby house.

Police say her 27-year-old son came out of the house to confront the group.

A fight then broke out and it is believed the teenager was stabbed.

Mr Davis died on the way to hospital.

The 27-year-old has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm.

Police say that may be upgraded following a post mortem.
