The five-year-old Muscovite boy Dima Sokolov on Thursday gave a new name "Buffy" to the new pet of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
Putin received Sokolov and his parents at his governmental residence outside Moscow. The boy won the naming competition by sending an email to the prime minister.
Buffy, a Bulgarian shepherd dog, was presented to Putin as a gift by his Bulgarian counterpart Boyko Borisov during a November visit to Sofia.
Putin, famous for his fondness for dogs, currently owns four doggies, including a black Labrador called Connie.
