A man, suspected of having mental problem, cut his eldest son's scrotum while abandoning his second son at a surau, or Muslim prayers' room.
Saiful Azly Kamaruddin, police chief of the district of Seremban, capital of the state of Negeri Sembilan in central Peninsula Malaysia, told reporters here on Sunday about the incident that took place last Friday.
According to Saiful, the four-year-old boy was found injured when his father brought him to the babysitter, believed to be the man's relative, here Friday noon.
Saiful said the woman who had received the boy found him suffering, and she was shocked to see the boy's private part injured when she inspected him.
The woman immediately rushed the boy to the hospital where his wound was given several stitches, said Saiful, adding that the recuperating boy was currently in good condition.
Meanwhile, Saiful said after leaving the boy at the relative's house, the father brought away with him his one-year-old son, and abandoned the child at a surau.
Saiful added that the police, alerted by the public, brought the child for inspection at a hospital.
The man, a 30-year-old farmer, is currently detained by the police.
It was learnt that his wife had just given birth to a baby about two weeks ago, and is now staying at her parents' home during the confinement month.
