Malaysian police say they have arrested an Indonesian terrorist suspect under a strict security law.

Malaysian national police chief Ismail Omar says the arrest - one of several recently - shows the successful cooperation between the two countries rather than an increase in terrorism activities in the region.

He says the arrest of Fadli Sadama is not a sign of a new cell, and that police had been looking for the suspect "for a long time."

Ismail was speaking Friday after a meeting with Indonesian federal police chief Timur Pradopo.

He said Fadli was being held uder the Internal Security Act, which allows indefinite detention without trial of people considered security threats.

Local media reported earlier that Fadli was arrested Oct. 13
