MAN SWALLOWS A 100-YEAR-OLD MUSEUM EXHIBIT

Don’t try this at home. It is also not magic but a man just swallowed a 100-year-old museum exhibit in front of a packed audience in a lecture hall. What is shocking about the whole thing however is that the man did swallow a 3-feet serrated edge sword.

The man, Dan Meyer is the president of the strange organization, Sword Swallowers Association International (SSAI). Meyer was giving lectures to the packed hall on the history and the art of sword swallowing. His demonstration moved some of the audience at the lecture hall to closed one eye.
After the swallowing, Meyer told AOL News that, “It felt kind of bumpy on the edges and it kinda hurt. I had to go very slowly and carefully. My throat’s a little sore after doing it. The saw is probably more painful than anything I’ve swallowed” The practice has been in existence for a long time.
In fact the sword in question belonged to a renowned sword swallower, Edith Clifford. He was the “Champion Sword Swallower of the World” for the period of 1899 to 1922. Meyer felt honored that he has shared the same sword with the legend. He said that, “It’s a privilege for me. This creates a connection for me to Edith Clifford, now that I’ve swallowed the same prop she’s swallowed. It’s like doing a straitjacket escape using Houdini’s straitjacket”.
