A new cold front is forecast to hit northern China, bringing heavy snow and wind.
Blizzards have already pounded the country's northwest Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. Several expressways were blocked, leaving passengers stranded in the region. Local authorities have taken measures to cope with the emergency. Beijing has also been lashed by strong wind.
Forecasters predict the cold snap will continue to hit the autonomous regions of Inner Mongolia and Tibet. Heavy snow is also expected to hit northeast China's Heilongjiang Province in the following days.
