Iron deficiency in toddlers can affect their physical, behavioral and mental development, and lead to anemia.
The Nemours Foundation suggests how to help your child get enough dietary iron:
- Don't let your child drink endless amounts of milk; keep it to between 16 ounces and 24 ounces daily.
 - Offer your child enough iron-rich foods, including fish, poultry, meat, beans and tofu.
 - Provide iron-fortified snacks.
 - Give your child iron-fortified cereals.
