Haiti has been going through a lot of turbulences since the last few days. The nation has already witnessed about 337 deaths and more than 4,764 confirmed cases of cholera. Now the UN Spokes man and Emergency officials broke yet another bad news, that may increase the death toll of the nation. They warned that Hurricane Tomas is moving in a westward track and that it might damage Haiti in the next few days.

The Hurricane Tomas has been traversing in the east Caribbean islands in a deadly form, damaging several homes and civic properties, toppling trees and causing power cuts in places like St Lucia and St Vincent in the Windwards islands, reaching category 3 strength on Thursday. Michael Forbes, St. Vincent’s Head of National Emergency Management Organization, said that the storm has already reached a powerful stage and has damaged more than hundred homes. He expects to face more wrath from the hurricane in the coming days. More than 500 people had to be relocated in schools and churches in his area, as they lost their properties. It is expected that by the time it reaches Haiti, the storm will gather more strength and therefore the consequences can be even more disastrous. Private US forecaster, Weather Underground, said in its blog that this is just the beginning and the storm is yet to cause more disaster. They also said that Haiti and Dominican Republic are most likely to be worst affected by the storm. However, there are slight chances for the storm to move further west towards Jamaica or sway its way to east and affect Lesser Antilles Islands.

Imogen Wall, the United Nations humanitarian spokeswoman in Haiti, said that they have already reached their capacity to accommodate the cholera affected people and those who were affected by the January earthquake. A further destruction can put them into serious trouble for which they have to make serious efforts.
